What it is

RAG — retrieval-augmented generation — is how most serious business AI works: the model searches your documents or records to answer. Powerful, and a rich attack surface.

We test cross-user and cross-tenant leakage, poisoned content planted in the knowledge base, and retrieval that can be manipulated into surfacing what it shouldn't.

Almost every capable assistant, support bot or internal copilot uses RAG. The most common serious setup, and the most commonly untested.

Representative scenario

A support assistant that served the wrong customer's data

A support assistant retrieved from one shared index with no per-user scoping. A request framed as an internal check returned another customer's order, email and address.

Any user could reach anyone's records. The retrieval layer, not the model, was the weak point — exactly where RAG assessments focus.

The risk of not testing

What’s at stake if you skip it.

Cross-customer leakage

A shared, unscoped index lets one user retrieve another's private data.

Poisoned knowledge

Malicious content planted in an ingested document steers every answer that follows.

Unauthorised retrieval

Documents meant for one team or tier surfacing to anyone who asks the right way.

Silent exposure

RAG leaks look like normal answers — you won't see it without testing.
